This policy applies to Liege Airport, Liege Airport Business Park and Liege Airport Security.

Liege Airport’s commitment

LIEGE AIRPORT is committed to integrating the protection of personal data within its business strategy, in compliance with current legislation and regulations.

LIEGE AIRPORT is committed to adapting, on a continuous basis, its processes and procedures to ensure that they remain compliant with regulations, that they are transparent and that the persons concerned are kept informed about what will happen to their data in a concise, transparent and comprehensible manner; this information should be easily accessible to them.

Liege Airport is henceforth fully compliant with Data Protection regulations (GDPR)*.

Definitions

  • Personal data: data containing details about personal or factual circumstances of a particular or identifiable private individual
  • Data processing: operation or series of operations carried out on personal data or groups of personal data, whether by automated methods or not, such as its collection, registration, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, diffusion or other means, alignment or combination, restriction, deletion or destruction.

Responsibility for data processing

Liege Airport is responsible for processing personal data within the framework of the following activities:

  • Administration of the company and legal aspects
  • Business Development and client management
  • Supplier management
  • Human Resources management
  • IT management
  • Safety management
  • Security management
  • Communications and public relations management
  • Financial management
  • Environmental management

Under this framework, each member of staff who has to handle personal data shall act in the strictest confidentiality in relation to the data processed.

Compliance with the requirements set out in this policy must always be verifiable by means of written documentation in terms of the measures taken and the relevant details concerning data processing which form part of a centralised register held in the Management System and Environment department.

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for checking compliance with these requirements.

Data protection officer

To comply with regulations, Liege Airport must appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) who works with the support of the executive management.

Any information request concerning the handling of personal data by Liege Airport, as well as any request seeking to find out about, amend, complete or delete personal data, should be addressed to the DPO.

Personal data which must be conserved by law or under an agreement may not be deleted.

Communication of data to third parties

Any personal data collected are handled in the strictest confidentiality and may only be communicated to third parties to the extent this is necessary for the purposes described in the contract between Liege Airport and the person whose data is being handled and to the extent that this complies with relevant legal provisions.

These third parties shall only receive such personal data necessary for the performance of the tasks they have been assigned and by the adherence of these third parties to a commitment to respect confidentiality, the regulations set out by the GDPR and this policy.

Conservation of personal data

Any personal data collected shall be kept for the period of time necessary to complete all required data processing or for the period of time provided for under the legislation.

Safeguarding personal data

All appropriate technical and operational measures shall be taken in order to guarantee the confidentiality of personal data and to prevent non-authorised access or non-authorised use of personal data.

Awareness, information and partnerships

Awareness and information are long-term issues.  Not just LIEGE AIRPORT personnel, but also suppliers, passengers and clients are made aware of Liege Airport’s policy with regard to the protection of personal data by means of regular provision of information and relevant training courses.

Evaluation and revision of this policy

The current personal protection data policy is regularly assessed and revised according to:

  • the progress of the action plan for compliance of Liege Airport’s processes and procedures with the new regulations;
  • regulatory watch;
  • audits carried out by the DPO;
  • requests from the supervisory authority.
